Creating an FMEA

Creating Design and MSR FMEA files
  1. Open the New FMEA dialog.
  2. Select/Add a root element.
  3. Select AP_DESIGN_MSR as the document type.
  4. Select a rating catalog.
Creating Process FMEA file
  1. Open the New FMEA dialog.
  2. Select/Add a root element.
  3. Select AP_PROCESS as the document type.
  4. Select a rating catalog.
Opening FMEA risk matrices & analyses
  1. Open the Repository view.
  2. Select an FMEA.
  3. Open FMEA analysis.
Filtering AP risk matrix

Precondition: AP risk matrix was already opened.

  1. Click the Toggle orthoviewer mode.
  2. Use scrollbar to see ratings.
  3. Open Configure table dialog.
  4. Set configurations.
  5. Open Choose action groups dialog.
  6. Set parameters.

Switching RPN to AP
  1. Open Properties for FMEA Document dialog.
  2. Select the AP_DESIGN_MSR document type.
  3. Select the VDA_AIAG_AP_DesignMSR ratings catalog.
Applying Styles for FMEA elements

The Foreground color changes the name color of SE/FU/MF.

The selected Background color changes the background color for MF (if MF was selected), for FU (if FU was selected) and for SE, FU and MF if the SE was selected.

Precondition: FMEA was created.

  1. Select the desired element.
  2. Navigate to the Properties view.
  3. Select the Fore- & Background colors.
  4. Copy / Paste Style.
  5. Delete a color.
Assigning Attribute catalogs
  1. Navigate to the Repository view.
  2. Open the Properties for Project dialog.
  3. Select the desired catalogs.
Selecting Attributes for SE/FU/MF

Precondition: at least one Attribute catalog was assigned.

  1. Select a System Element, Function or Malfunction.
  2. Navigate to the Properties view.
  3. Open a catalog structure.
  4. Select the desired Attribute.
Assigning Special Characteristics choice lists
  1. Navigate to the Catalogs view.
  2. Copy the standard Special Characteristics choice list.
  3. Paste it to the Public folder.
  4. Open and edit the catalog.
  5. Open the Properties for Project dialog.
  6. Select the desired Classification catalog.
  7. Add a Classification to a Malfunction.
