Creating a Diagram

Diagrams can be created from the Model Explorer view. Creating a diagram can be performed by right-clicking on one of the shown model classes on the picture. The selected element will be the owner of the diagram.

  1. Open the Creating a new Diagram dialog.
  2. Enter the Diagram properties.

The diagrams will be saved and can be found in the Model Explorer view.

The tutorial will show you how to model diagrams. To do this, you’ll create objects and link them together.

Creating a new SysML 1.4 Activity Diagram

Precondition: A SOX Project was created and opened. 

  1. Create a new diagram.
  2. Apply stereotype.
  3. Add Safety level.
  4. Add Activities and Call Behavior Actions.
  5. Connect the Activities.

The diagrams will be saved and can be found in the Model Explorer view.

Designing System structure

Precondition: A SOX Project was created and opened. 

  1. Create a new diagram.
  2. Add System structure.
  3. Connect Elements.

The diagrams will be saved and can be found in the Model Explorer view.

Deriving an FMEA from System Design

Precondition: The system design has been defined. 

  1. Select Create FMEA in the context menu of the desired root element
  2. Select an FMEA folder of your project.

Deriving an Internal Block diagram from Block Definition diagram

  1. Create a new Block Definition diagram.
  2. Add and connect Elements.
  3. Create a new Internal Block diagram.
  4. Drag & drop child Elements into the root System Element block.

Export / Import

Export Diagrams as a Picture
  1. Open the Save As Image File dialog.
  2. Select the output directory.
  3. Choose an output image format.

The quality can be changed if you choose JPEG as Image Format.

Export All Diagrams as a Picture
  1. Open the Export All Diagrams dialog at the context menu entry of SysML 1.4 model.
  2. Choose an output image format.
  3. Select the output directory.

The quality can be changed if you choose JPEG as Image Format.

Import System Design (UML/SysML)

You can import systems designed with UML/SysML 1.4 (Supported input format: Enterprise Architect XMI 2.1.).

  1. Open the Import System Design (UML/SysML) wizard.
  2. Select the source file
  3. Select the target location.
  4. Apply the SOX stereotypes to the imported objects.

Individual SysML profiles can not be imported. You can review in the „Diagnosis“ dialog all objects that can not be imported. If you want to create diagrams with these objects you have to create them later.

Import from XMI 2.1

Generating SOX stereotypes / Deriving FMEA from SYSML
  1. Create a new SOX project.
  2. Import an XMI 2.1 xml file.
  3. Create a SOX functions diagram.
  4. Derive an FMEA file.

Individual SysML profiles can not be imported. You can review in the „Diagnosis“ dialog all objects that can not be imported. If you want to create diagrams with these objects you have to create them later.
