Creating an FTA

Creating Gates
  1. Select Gate from the objects palette.
  2. Click in the Editor or on an already created gate.
Paste special

The Copy / Paste feature creates the gates with the new IDs. The created gates inherite the colors of the copied gates as well as their Malfunctions with the IDs.

The Copy / Paste special feature adds the same already copied gate to the selected one. The pasted special gate keeps the gate ID, color and Malfunction with the ID. These gates get also the corresponding icon.

Precondition: the FTA document of the demo project is open. The new FTA document with a root gate is created.

  1. Copy a gate of the Spoiler FTA document.
  2. Paste it into the root gate of the FTA document.
  3. Copy a gate of the Spoiler FTA document.
  4. Paste special the copied gate into a gate of the FTA document.
Creating Events
  1. Select an Event from the objects palette.
  2. Click on a Gate in the editor to add the selected Event.
Creating Failure models manually

Precondition: An FTA was created.

  1. Navigate to the PSS view.
  2. Open the Add failure model dialog.

  1. Open an FTA.
  2. Open the Export Diagram dialog.

  1. Open the FTA import dialog.
  2. Select the source file.

Adding a Fault Tree
  1. Open an FTA.
  2. Navigate to the PSS view.
  3. Drag & drop a malfunction into the FTA editor.
  4. Add fault tree.

  1. Open an FTA.
  2. Navigate to the PSS view.
  3. Drag & drop a malfunction into the FTA editor.
  4. Create a new gate.
